With the summer high season at our doorstep throughout Oceania, it’s not hard to make the most of the current quarter’s PADI Specialties. With these two PADI Specialties on offer, you have the flexibility to promote whichever specialty best suits your dive shop or local area.

PADI Wreck Diver

There are many amazing wrecks in the region that make it rather easy for you to offer this specialty – be it in your immediate local area, or as an exciting dive travel opportunity for your customers. To name just a few famous ones:

In Australia: ex-HMAS Swan (W.A.), ex-HMAS Hobart (S.A.), ex-HMAS Canberra (VIC), ex-HMAS Adelaide (NSW), ex-HMAS Brisbane, SS Yongala and soon also ex-HMAS Tobruk (QLD).

In New Zealand: Rainbow Warrior and HMNZS Canterbury (North Island).

In the rest of Oceania: SS President Coolidge (Vanuatu) and numerous WWII wrecks (Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and many more).

PADI Digital Underwater Photographer

We all know that every diver wants to show what they’ve seen underwater, so why not teach them how easy it is to take more than just an average snap shot picture? After completing this specialty course, your students will go home and proudly share their awesome digital underwater images to all family & friends (and on social media) – which in turn no doubt brings more business into your dive shop.

We’re so lucky that Oceania offers a wide range of exceptional marine environments that many divers can’t wait to see and take pictures of. So this is yet another PADI Specialty that helps you make the most of your local area this summer high season, or on that special dive trip. The following are just some examples of the outstanding opportunities Oceania has to offer for underwater photography students:

In Australia: leafy seadragons (S.A.), nudibranchs (VIC), weedy seadragons (NSW), coral spawning on the Great Barrier Reef (QLD, during full moon this November).

In New Zealand: Poor Knight Islands (North Island) and Milford Sound (South Island – exceptional clear waters, 7 gill sharks, to name a few attractions).

In Papua New Guinea and the Pacific Island Countries: coral reefs teeming with life, reef and oceanic sharks, dolphins … (from Fiji all the way to French Polynesia).

It’s impossible to name all marine animals – However, my point is: are you making the most of all of these fantastic opportunities in your area?

PADI Specialty of the Quarter- Underwater Navigator & Equipment Specialist

PADI Specialty Diver courses offer the perfect opportunity to expand the knowledge of your students, to better understand their interests as divers and to make sure they come back to complete more courses in the future!

The PADI Specialty of the Quarter campaign was launched in 2018, to focus on the promotion of various PADI Specialty Diver courses each quarter. Not only does this campaign help to grow the interest of continuing your students education, but it also aims to increase the sales of your PADI Specialty Diver courses and student materials. This quarter we are focusing on promoting the PADI Underwater Navigator and PADI Equipment Specialist specialty courses!

PADI Underwater Navigator Specialty Course

Many divers rely on more experienced divers to help them navigate under the water. However, what if these divers knew that they could complete the PADI Underwater Navigator specialty course and learn not only how to navigate underwater with a compass, but how to estimate distance underwater, how to mark or relocate a submerged object or position from the surface or how to create an underwater map? These divers would then not only feel more confident under the water, but they could also one day become the underwater guide that they used to rely on.

PADI Equipment Specialist Specialty Course

How many times have your students asked you about their missing o-ring or broken fin strap before getting in the water? Scuba Diving is an equipment intensive sport, so it is important that each diver understands not only how to use their equipment, but how it can also be repaired or adjusted. By completing the PADI Equipment Specialist specialty course, students will learn routine care, maintenance procedures, equipment storage recommendations, how to overcome equipment problems along with equipment configuration suggestions. Not only will this specialty better prepare divers to take care of their dive gear, but it will also improve their performance in the water as they become more comfortable with their own equipment.

PADI Specialty of the Quarter – Coming Soon

Coming soon to PADI Asia Pacific, the PADI Specialty of the Quarter campaign will focus on different PADI specialties each quarter.

While officially launching for 2018 we have made the Q4 2017 resources and tools available to gather feedback from PADI Members on the campaign.

This marketing initiative will help you grow interest in continuing education and increase sales of PADI Specialty courses and student materials. PADI Specialty courses offer the perfect opportunity to widen the knowledge of your students, better understand their interests as divers and make sure they come back to do more courses. You can also tie this in with the free PADI MSD Application available in the Asia Pacific region.

Each quarter there will be two PADI Specialty courses promoted. This will provide flexibility to promote both or select the one which best suits your dive shop while still being a focused campaign. PADI Asia Pacific will also be promoting these specialty courses throughout Quarter 4.

Quarter 4 (Oct – Dec) 2017 Specialities:

  • PADI Wreck Diver Specialty course
  • PADI Digital Underwater Photographer Specialty course

2018 PADI Specialty of the Quarter: Q1 calendar will be released in early December 2017.
