What’s the difference between ReActivate Touch and Scuba Tune up eLearning?

11 Nov

111115 - Image 2How many times have you heard, “I’m a certified diver, but it’s been a little while since I was in the water”?

Have you asked yourself what a newly refreshed and active diver is actually worth to you and your PADI Dive Centre?

  • How much would you make from selling a new Mask, Snorkel & Fins ?
  • How much could you earn from selling PADI Continuing Education Courses?
  • How about inviting them on a recreational Dive Trip to use their newly refreshed skills?

Now ask yourself what is the difference between ReActivate Touch and Scuba Tune up e-Learning?

ReActivate Touch

The ReActivate program includes the ReActivate Touch that you can download to your tablet or mobile device. Refreshing your diving knowledge has never been easier or more convenient. The PADI ReActivate program also:

  • Delivers cutting edge technology to re-educate you on fundamental scuba knowledge you may have forgotten since your last dive.
  • Offers a prescriptive approach to refresh skills you need or want to focus on. Your PADI Instructor will work with you to get you acclimated with gear set up and skills you’ll work on prior to jumping back into the water.
  • Includes a completion certificate for those who finish the academic portion and a PADI replacement card if you complete both academic and in-water skills with a PADI Instructor.

The best part is, divers who complete both the knowledge and in-water skill refresher receive a replacement certification card with a ReActivated date on it.

Your PADI certification does not expire.  Participation in PADI ReActivate™ is not mandatory, but recommended as an easy way to refresh your foundational scuba safety knowledge and skills if you haven’t been diving in a while.111115 - Image 1

To assist you with your marketing efforts for PADI ReActivate and PADI Equipment Specialist Touch, there is a comprehensive marketing toolkit available on the PADI Pros’ Site in the Marketing Toolbox section. This marketing toolkit provides a full range of resources including website banners, social media collateral, email templates, digital brochures, images, consumer information, digital posters and much more.

PADI is also undertaking a targeted consumer campaign for PADI ReActivate (and PADI Equipment Specialist Touch) in November and December, so it’s a great time to make sure your PADI Dive Shop is effectively promoting these to benefit from this campaign.

Visit the Marketing Toolbox of the PADI Pros’ Site to download these marketing toolkits

Increase entry level divers heading into the Southern Hemisphere summer

26 Oct

open water touch

As we approach the start of the summer dive season we should all be looking at how we can invite more divers into this amazing industry.

Entry level divers are the core of our business and to ensure industry growth we need to compete with all the other summer activities today’s consumer have to choose from. We must ‘stand out from the crowd’ and show the value of gaining a PADI Open Water Diver certification.

Often I hear comments like “How old do you need to be to learn to dive'” or “Does your PADI licence expire?”

Perhaps our promotion and education to the general public needs to improve so there is more awareness around when and how people can achieve their certification.

So, how can we improve on what we are already doing? How can we increase our new diver numbers? Start thinking about avenues of advertising – have you promoted learning to dive in local gyms and sports clubs? Schools? Swimming pools? Scouts groups? Surf Life Saving Clubs? If not perhaps this is a missed opportunity for you and the dive business you work in or own.

Remember – there are many options for learning to dive – PADI Open Water Touch, eLearning, Manuals and Lite Paks – ensure you are allowing students to choose the option that works best for them!

Many parents are now starting to think about summer school holiday programmes and activities they can put their children into – PADI Seal Team, Bubble Maker and Discover Scuba Diving are just some of the options to offer and advertise as ‘School Holiday Programmes’.

Reminding consumers that once they learn to dive they are qualified for life and even if they have a break, it’s super easy to refresh skills with PADI’s Reactivate programme.

We work in an industry that makes advertising using imagery easy – start promoting and educating consumers on what lies beneath our ocean – get those photos of marine life up on websites, social media and printed advertising – non divers may be unaware of the beauty of our big blue backyard!

Butterfly Perch in Milford Sound

Jewel Anemones on the Canterbury Wreck

People will want to protect the ocean and its inhabitants more if they know what is there and see it first hand! Promote underwater conservation through the Project AWARE programmes – get the community involved.

Finally – don’t forget why we do what we do! It is easy to get consumed by the business of diving. If you have lost your ‘diving mojo’ and are less enthusiastic than you used to be, or your staff are no longer answering the phone with a smile on their face, perhaps its time to get back into the water for some fun diving. Potential divers will more likely sign up for a course from a business with happy, passionate staff than those who are not!

We are lucky to be able to call the ocean our office – we have the ability to introduce others into this magical world underwater. Keep your passion alive and selling diving will be effortless!

PADI eLearning: A great option!

9 Feb

Since 2007 eLearning has had a revenue share portion as part of the purchase price, in 2015 this has changed. Along the way we received feedback from Members saying that revenue share affected the cash-flow of the business and was at times not suitable for the way their business was run. As many of you are aware, eLearning for 2015 can now be purchased without revenue share thus providing Members with an affordable and sophisticated product that can be easily purchased then sent to students signed up for a dive course.

With the new changes now implemented you can buy eLearning direct from PADI by either the Online Shopping Cart or directly from your PADI Sales Consultant, the third option is via padi.com where the revenue share option is available. With the PIC attached to the eLearning credit this will help align learning materials with a student’s certification.

For those of you who like the new system, you’ll note that this puts eLearning front and centre as an affordable alternative for students to learn off site and come into the dive shop anytime they choose too or more importantly anytime you encourage them to do so.

eLearning is now a serious choice for all dive centres to consider offering their busy customers to knock over the knowledge development portion of a dive course and provides a solid information background that will stay with them for many years to come. There are so many positives to come with learning online, there are more and more courses on offer and importantly eLearning takes advantage of the technology we have available today, online and offline.

Offering this style of learning is becoming a no brainer and is suitable for all ages, feel free to call me and discuss how eLearning can help your business prosper.

How to Buy and Use PADI eLearning Gift Passes

2 Dec

What is an eLearning Gift Pass good for?

  • For PADI Dive Centers, an eLearning Gift Pass allows you to seamlessly include eLearning as part of your regular course price and ensures that the customer affiliates with your store.
    Let’s get started…
  • For independent instructors not affiliated with a store – this is the only way you can offer eLearning.

Do not buy gift passes from padi.com, start at the PADI Pro’s site.

Anyone can buy an eLearning Gift Pass; however, as a PADI Member, it’s important that you purchase through the PADI Pro’s site to ensure you get credit.

PADI eLearning – are you onboard yet?

16 Jan

eLearning
Connecting with PADI Dive Centres or Resorts is even easier for millions of prospective divers with the PADI eLearning™ system.

Initially launched in 2007 with the PADI Open Water Diver Course Online, there are currently nine PADI eLearning programs offered in as many as nine languages each. The PADI eLearning juggernaut continues to gain steam as enrollments are up more than 26 percent in 2012 as compared to the same time last year.

Benefits of PADI eLearning to Dive Centres and Resorts

  • You share revenue for student divers who affiliate with your business
  • Your customers have another option for fitting knowledge developement into their busy lives
  • Your new customers have received consistent education, equipment and experience promotions
  • New divers are delivered to your store

The goals of the PADI eLearning model are simple:

  • To increase entry-level diver enrolments by expanding dive centre business hours to 24/7
  • To drive new, enthusiastic student divers to the dive centre to fulfill not only their training completion needs, but also all of their diving needs
  • To help interest divers in more dive education, equipment and experiences

PADI’s eLearning model works one of three ways:

  1. PADI Dive Centres and Resorts can choose to place a link on their website that allows new student divers to sign up for online knowledge development learning. This automatically affiliates the diver with that store.
  2. Potential divers who find the eLearning link on padi.com will be prompted to first affiliate with a local PADI Dive Centre or Resort before continuing on to the eLearning site.
  3. PADI Dive Centres and Resorts can purchase eLearning gift passes for their students. These can be mailed directly to the divers which also automatically affiliates the diver with that store. This is very useful if you offer a package which includes the eLearning fee.

eLearning is all about convenience – the opportunity to begin and continue diver education beginning on the internet and continuing through PADI Dive Centres and Resorts. Through an interactive web-based program new students will read, hear and see the same material other student divers receive from interacting with the PADI Manuals, Video or Multimedia.

After enrolling, PADI’s eLearning system presents the student with interactive presentations that include videos, audio, graphics and reading. Short quizzes allow them to gauge their progress, and review and correct anything they might happen to miss. It lets them move through the program efficiently and at their own pace.

One of the most talked about benefits of PADI eLearning is how easy it is for PADI Members to offer the program. PADI has developed a set up program simple enough that anyone familiar with a keyboard and computer could easily navigate.

An outline to the basics of this program is available to PADI Retail & Resort Association Members on the PADI Pros site, including:

  • How PADI Dive Centres and Resorts can prepare to welcome eLearners into their business
  • What the eLearner experiences
  • How PADI Dive Centres and Resorts can integrate eLearning into their current training programs
  • What tools are available to help PADI Dive Centres and Resorts communicate with eLearners along with answers to other important questions on eLearning.

PADI Retail and Resort Association Members can get started by logging on to the PADI Pros site at padi.com and following the simple step-by-step instructions.

PADI Instructors can also be involved in the eLearning program.
